Context

The design brief dated 17 February 2025 documents a three-day Waroeng Djawi menu-redesign project. The defined direction was traditional, vintage, and classic Javanese.

Goal

Design a menu that reflects a Javanese identity while making menu names, short descriptions, food imagery, and prices easy to read through a neat layout.

Process

The process referred to the brief, moodboard, sketches, and menu design. The design presentation explains the combination of classic, traditional, and slightly old-fashioned styles as the basis for visual development.

Decisions

A wayang kulit mountain puppet silhouette and batik motifs were selected as Javanese visual references. A black-and-white palette created the vintage atmosphere, while Californian FB and Bodoni Bk BT supported the classic impression. Javanese ornaments on both sides reinforced the visual identity.

Outcome

The project archive includes a brand-introduction page and a complete menu-listing page, showing dish photographs and prices within a shadow-puppet ornamented composition.

Reflection

This project balanced cultural ornament with readability: Javanese elements establish character, while the information hierarchy keeps the menu easy to scan.
